Don’t Forget About Your Resident Agent (December 1st, 2010)

Every Maryland corporation or other legal entity must have a person or office designated to receive official state correspondence and notice if the corporation is named as defendant in a legal proceeding. This person or office is called the “Resident Agent.” It is vitally important that every company keep the identity and address of its resident agent current with the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation. Failure to do so could result in legal proceedings taking place without the company’s knowledge or defense ultimately resulting in a judgment against the company. Please check SDAT’s website to verify that your company’s resident agent information is correct. We can serve as your resident agent to accept service on your behalf.  Contact our office for more information.
