Stephen S. Winegrad has engaged in the general practice of law for over 31 years, allowing him to provide legal counsel to a wide variety of clients. For the individual client, Steve provides experienced and common-sense advice on a wide range of legal issues. His personal injury law experience allows Steve to represent and advise clients regarding losses sustained in an accident, including property damage, personal injury, and loss of value claims. For those injured on the job, Steve navigates his clients though the worker’s compensation claim process to obtain lost wages, medical treatment, and compensation for permanent injuries.

Steve’s family law clients turn to him for fair and economical representation for sensitive issues concerning divorce, custody, support, and division of marital property. He also provides experienced and diligent representation to those facing traffic or criminal charges. When it comes time to prepare for the future, he counsels clients and prepares their wills and advance directives.

For the business/corporate client, whether large, small, national or local, Steve regularly provides guidance and advice in various matters, including covenant interpretation and enforcement and collection of assessments for community associations, contract interpretation and preparation, debt collection, and contract disputes. In litigation, as a plaintiff or defendant, Steve provides counsel and representation to his clients throughout the litigation process.

Steve’s litigation and appellate experience allow him to handle both large and small matters from the district courts up to Maryland’s highest court, the Court of Appeals – from pre-trial through appeals. He is also experienced in arbitration and mediation proceedings, and appears regularly before various administrative agencies.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Steve graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1981 and from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1985. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1985, and thereafter joined his father, Robert M. Winegrad, in the practice of law, where Steve continues to practice in the firm his father started in 1969. Like his father, Steve dedicates his practice to providing common-sense and practical advice designed to avoid or resolve conflicts quickly and efficiently.

Steve regularly handles pro bono cases referred by the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Program and is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association.  He also serves on the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland Peer Review Committee.
